A Longstanding Tradition of Supporting First Graders
A look back at the pencil project: nearly 5,500 pencils planned for Yonkers first-grade classrooms in 2016.
The September 2016 Club report described plans to distribute nearly 5,500 pencils to 77 first-grade classrooms serving 2,064 Yonkers public school students.
The report noted that Club volunteers had already been distributing pencils for many years—an enduring commitment to helping children arrive ready to learn.
