Our evening meeting on 29 July was a special event. The Club presented 2 Community Service Awards of $1,000 each to two graduating High School seniors - Honor Pickering and Christopher Antonelli.
Mayra Tepan, Chair of the Youth Service Committee spoke about how this project was one of the Club’s activities to promote community service and that the Club’s Board supported the Committee’s recommendation to provide $1,000 awards to the following two high school graduates:

Christopher Antonelli (right) of Archbishop Stepanic High School was the second recipient. He spoke about his community service and plans for attending college
President Steve thanked Honor and Chris for their community service, wished them success, presented them with (virtual) checks and encouraged them to join us at a future Club meeting!
Another highlight of the evening was the presentation of awards to 4 graduating seniors who are members of the Interact Club of Sacred Heart School.
Greg Arcaro, our Club’s liaison to the Interact Club, reviewed Rotary’s Interact Program. Since its founding in 1962, its purpose remains the same - to foster service and leadership among high school students. There are 14, 911 Interact clubs with 342,953 members in 145 countries in the world. The Interact Program at Sacred Heart High School that our Club sponsored 2 years ago is one of 17 Interact Clubs in our District 7230.
Melissa Oricchio, the school’s moderator of the Interact Club, spoke about the projects the Club carried out this year and introduced the four senior members who are graduating Sacred Heart High School and attending college:
Lisa Gentile (Pace University)
Camille Jimenez (SUNY Purchase)
Stephanie Reyes (Fordham University)
They each spoke about their school and community service activities and future plans.
President Steve thanked them for their community service, wished them success and presented them with (virtual) checks, and encouraged them to join us at a future Club meeting!
President Steve also thanked Melissa for moderating the Interact Club this year and pledged our Club’s support for Interact at Sacred Heart High School in 2020-21.
