2017 Community Service Grants

As in previous years, our Club has supported community service projects that benefit Yonkers residents and are sponsored by not-for-profit organizations. In 2017 we have provided supporting grants for 11 projects with grants starting at $500 per project, totaling $6,000.00. Family Service Society of Yonkers Kinship Support Program and the Yonkers Public Library Telescope Lending Program have been awarded Grants of $750 each, while all others (in no particular order) will receive $500 Grants.
Family Service Society of Yonkers - Kinship Support Program – Provide for educational, cultural, and recreational opportunities for at-risk children being raised by Grandparents.
Yonkers Public Library - Telescope Lending Program for the scientific engagement for patrons of the Yonkers Public Library.
Queen’s Daughters Day Care - "Get Moving, Get Fit” for tricycles and playground equipment.
Greyston Foundation - Greyston Community Gardens and Environmental Education Program – Hope and Dreams Project – on Buena Vista Avenue.
Yonkers Historical Society - Publication of quarterly newsletter The Historian.
CLUSTER Community Services - Provide for CLUSTER Summer Camp Program to offer full and partial scholarships to a 6-week summer camp. Many are from very low-income households.
Fine Arts Orchestral Society Of Yonkers - Provide for a free Symphonic Concert by the Yonkers Philharmonic Orchestra, specifically to help pay musician’s fees during the Winter Concert season 2017-2018.
Hudson Valley Justice Center - Provide for 5 educational outreach presentations in Yonkers to inform clients of legal rights and options in areas that include immigration, housing, and consumer law.
YMCA of Yonkers - “Community Dining” – a program that addresses hunger on multiple levels: children, teenagers, adults, older adults, and the homeless.
Westhab, Inc. - Food Pantry at Westhab’s Elm Street Community Resource Center.
Science Barge/Groundworks, Blue Door - “BargeSpeak/ArtSpeak” – Two three-hour workshops on the Hudson River to provide bond connecting the arts, history and the environment.
